Tuesday – Written Test
Immediately following the Opening Ceremony, competitors will meet in the designated contest area for a written test. It is important that all competitors are present. Students only need their name badge and a writing utensil for this portion. The session will last approximately 30 minutes once everyone has arrived.

Wednesday – Design and Interview Portion
The design portion of the competition will begin at 8:00 a.m. and competitors will have until 1:00 p.m. to complete their work. Students may leave once they have finished if they complete their project early.

During the design portion, each competitor will also be called individually for a short interview with an adult.

Please note that we plan to avoid the use of online design software (such as Canva) and A.I. (artificial intelligence) tools, as the contest is designed to reflect each competitor’s personal design ability.

File Submission
A shared Google Drive folder will be used for file submissions. Each competitor will have their own folder to upload their work. If students are using school-issued devices, please check with your IT department to ensure they can connect to WiFi and access Google folders outside of your organization. This will help prevent access issues during the competition.

The SkillsUSA Championships Technical Standards are the official rules and guides for each competition that’s part of the SkillsUSA Championships. Reviewed and revised as necessary each year, a competition’s technical standards include an overview of the competition, lists of technical skills and knowledge required, clothing requirements, equipment lists, and more.

SLSC 2026 – Students are allowed to participate in one Leadership/Occupational Competition and one Skilled Competition. Please note that Advisors will be responsible for assisting students with managing their schedules. In some cases, the schedule may not allow for more than one competition.

For the Wisconsin State event, there are no online submissions or online tests unless the Tech Chair contacts you directly.

Rules for state and local events may vary from the national guidelines, but most state competitive events are modeled after the national technical standards. As a free membership benefit, SkillsUSA professional members (our instructors and advisors) receive the current SkillsUSA Championships Technical Standards for all competitions when they have submitted a current and accurate email address with their membership details.
Current SkillsUSA professional members: Watch the video below to learn how to access the SkillsUSA Championships Technical Standards as part of your professional member benefits package. Not yet a professional member? Learn how to join and why.
