President – Shelly Nash – Lakeview Technology Academy

My name is Shelly Nash and I am a senior at Lakeview Technology Academy. I am proud to be serving as your 2025-2026 Secondary State President.

I have been involved in SkillsUSA since I started high school after my advisor encouraged me, and am so grateful for the opportunities it has provided me. I have grown in my leadership skills, self confidence, and public speaking abilities. SkillsUSA has helped me grow in ways I did not believe were possible, and helped me find my place. This year, as my second year as a State Officer, I am excited to give back to this organization and support our local chapters.

Vice President – Lucas Varela – Waunakee High School

Hi, my name is Lucas Varela and I am a junior at Waunakee Community High School. I am very excited to be serving as your 2025–2026 Wisconsin State Vice President.

I first heard about SkillsUSA through my older brother, Matthew, and was inspired to join because I wanted to challenge myself in competitions. Since then, I’ve had the honor of serving in several chapter officer positions, which helped me grow as both a leader and a teammate. One of my proudest moments was competing at the National Leadership and Skills Conference in 2023, where my team earned first place in the Team Engineering Challenge. That experience showed me the true power of teamwork and dedication. Through SkillsUSA, I’ve gained confidence, strengthened my leadership and communication skills, and found a passion for helping others grow. As your Vice President, I’m excited to continue building connections, supporting our members, and working hard to make this year one of growth and success.
