District Events take place early in the school year and are designed as a learning experience for students. Typically hosted by local high schools, these events feature a variety of competitions that highlight the district’s strengths and showcase local programs.

Smaller in scale, District Events serve as both a fundraiser for the host school and a low-pressure opportunity for students to gain experience. Think of them as an introduction to how competitive events work — a great starting point for new participants.

These events are organized and run by local advisors, teachers, and professionals from business and industry, offering students valuable exposure to career pathways.

🛠️ Contest & Competition Info – How to prepare

To prepare for contests, advisors have access to national Technical Standards through SkillsUSA Pathful. These may be shared with student members.

👉 Click here for sample Rubrics (these are made for Nationals and will be edited for Districts, Regionals and State)

Please Note: District, Regional, and State-level events are condensed versions of the National competitions. When Technical Standards list multiple tiers, Tier 1 typically applies to District and Regional competitions, Tier 2 to State competitions, and Tier 3 to National competitions.

Students might be able enter more than one contest depending on the specific District guidelines and only if:

  • Each contest is in a different category (Occupational, Technical, Leadership)

  • If timing allows for participation   ➡️ Advisors must coordinate with site hosts to ensure schedules are manageable.
